On March 23, 2008, my cousin and I were driving at a speed of close to 60 mph on the Long Island (NY) Expressway, another vehicle suddenly cut into my lane and had I not reacted quickly, a devastating multi-car accident would have been ineviteable. But as I swerved away from the intruding vehicle, my front right tire hit a large pot hole in the rode with such a force that it bent the edhe of my rim and a piece of debris flew off and cracked my windshield.
I filed a report with Liberty Mutual about the incident and explained to the Rep, Stephanie, what had happened. At firsy, she seemrd to insinuate that I was lying! After speaking to a supervisor, I was assured of proper measures against her and urged to keep my policy with LM. It took LM almost 4 weeks to send me a payment for the claim and everytime I called them I was told they're "still investigating" the case!
Yesterday, I received my new insurance policy from LM and saw that my annual premium has been doubled! I contacted LM and a male Rep listened to my complaint about the increase and then determined that the increase was due to the said accident, for which I was found at fault! He was very courteous and assured me someone would call me within an hour, which didn't happen.
Today, I received a call someone who introduced himself as Mel Miller and said he was a supervisor at the New York Claims ctr of LM. He sounded as if he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol! He claimed that NY laws demand drivers should be in control of their vehicle at all times and since I prevented the accident, I was at fault!
I've read other complaints onlineabout LM and believe it might be prudent to bring a class-ction suit against this racket of an insurance company, since dishonesty and profiteering seems to be their trait. I am canceling my policy with them and intend to file a complaint with the Office of Consumer Affairs against LM. 35b3f22

1. Written by Legal Eagle on August 14, 2010 You are a piece of work. Liberty Mutual did nothing wrong. You could have killed someone instead of just hitting a pot hole it could have been another car or a motorcycle. You are not a very good driver. Don't blame your insurance company for your poor driving!
2. Written by what ever on June 5, 2010 you were at fault. so your premiums went up. surely you werent dumb enough to file a suit.
3. Written by Anonymous on October 8, 2008 I fail to see how you would NOT be determined at fault.

5. Written by Well two can play at that game on August 12, 2008 Perhaps when you went to file the report Stephanie thought you were under the influence of drugs and alcohol. She probably assumed that the way you did about Mel. If you drive the way you type stay away from my town. You seem proud that you got Stephanie in trouble, well the manager just said he would use proper measures against her just to satisfy you. They get many people like you.
